THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family law. She concentrates a large portion of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes the distribution of marital property and child custody battles. child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues, step-parent and private party adoptions and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019 she assists parties in helping them resolve their matters without needing to litigate or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediations for people who wish to avoid litigation and court processes.

After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and legal research.

Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014, she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice transcended her legal career as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law – divorce, custody guardianships, child maintenance and divorce and financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
